This was posted on Techncrunch the other day and has now made me very interested in Twitter again after initially thinking WTF about it. The only reason though is to get on the UK version of the Twitter Poster.

Why lose out on time improving your online social network, while out partying for Halloween when you can do both like these people!

Personally i have never got why Americans (and Canadians for that matter) dress up as literally anything for Halloween rather than using the celebration to determine the theme, is it too much of a major concern that somebody else may of turned up in the same werewolf costume that you had your eye on for months and finally saved enough money to buy it? I am quite surpirsed that Digg have only just got round to doing this as I personally think that this is something that they would of naturally got to prior to adding videos and podcasts. Another key point is that intend to clean up the taxonomy of their site also.

An article that I spotted this morning on TechCrunch, about how major artisits are starting to follow Radioheads lead of selling there music direct to the public rather than using the record industrys model. I first heard about this yesterday when I was listening to BBC Radio 1, where they were interviewing people who had just got the new Radiohead album, where people can pay what they wish for it. Surprisingly most people paid a reasonable amount for the album rather than being cheapskates. (more…)

Everybody says that google is trying to takeover the world this article only acts to add fuel to the fire. When Google realeases the API’s on or around the 5th Novemeber as stated below is when the fun will really begin as they then allow themselves to have a development department of infinite resources from all over the world. Personally theough i want to know more about these GPhone rumours! :)

Business Week has a long article expanding on the Google Social Nework Platform story we wrote about last month.

Key facts from the article: Orkut is 1/4 the size of MySpace (Comscore shows a much closer race), but they’ve recently taken the lead in the Asia/Pacific region. Orkut is also very strong in Latin America, with double the traffic of MySpace and Facebook combined.

Business Week also confirms our estimated November 5 launch date for a new set of APIs which let developers build applications that span a number of Google services. We heard the from sources here in Silicon Valley; their sources are third-party developers based in India.

Google plans to open up Orkut as a Platform, with fewer restrictions than Facebook. As an example, they say, application developers may be able to host applications on their own servers (Facebook does not permit this). Other Google services will be made available as well “If the plan succeeds, users might begin to see applications combining Orkut with Google Maps that would show where friends are located.”

And the article is also confirming that Google is thinking beyond their own properties, too. “For example, an Orkut widget for Facebook might enable Facebook users to see whether their Orkut friends are online through their Facebook pages.”
