Wendy James I do Care!
2008 at 18:05 pm by Jonny
I was listening the the Chris Moyles show this morning when they started talking about people who you had a crush on when you were a kid and how they changed when they older (potentially not being as attractive as they once were).
Then they mentioned one of my "Crushes" from being a kid which was Wendy James from Transvision Vamp. Now to my knowledge I think they only released one album which was called "Velveteen", which for some reason over the years I have owned in CD, Tape and Vinyl (I think I still have the Vinyl somewhere at my Mum & Dads house.
Anyway the point is that I hadn’t thought about here for quite sometime (not in that way…). the last thing I had heard about he was that she was in New York doing some kind of Art thing or something. So I decided to look her up on Wikipedia. To my surprise I found out that she has recently formed a new band called Racine, to quote Wikipedia:
“In her time away from the music business, James moved from England to New York and learned to write and perform music. In 2004 she returned to the music business as the singer, songwriter and producer of the band Racine.
Band members are Dee Dee Ross, Goldenboy, James Meynell and Ray Sullivan.
Following the release of their first album Racine No. 1, which was released on One Little Indian and Rough Trade Records in September 2006, the band played venues around the UK and in New York.”
Additionally I found out that they infact released 3 albums, but I haven’t looked up what they all are yet. Any how they are touring at the minute and are playing Wakefield and Manchester later this year so might have to think about popping along. For Nostalgia below is my favourite transvision Vamp song "Baby I Don’t Care".
