Deliverance: A Journey to Failure

2009 at 10:05 am by Jonny

This video was posted on UKClimbing last friday. I persoanlly though it was one of the best short climbing Films i have seen in a very long time.

Its by a guy called Jamie Maddison who i belief is a student at Cardiff university. I think the reason i like this video so much is that it shows the normal side of climbing and how a route/problem can be something that you know is out of your league but yet you want to try it even though you know your proabably going to fail overall, even though thats nothing to be ashamed of!

Jamie describes the video:

A short film about the mega classic boulder problem Deliverance at Stanage Plantation. At V8 7b+, it was way out of my league and it was always likely I would fail on it. However, the line is so good and problem so fantastic I couldn’t stop trying it. This is a film about failure but not in a negative way. I suppose its about the fun one can have along the way, even if we don’t always win.

You can see more of Jamie’s video on his Vimeo page. Apparently he’s working on another similiar project at the moment so hopefully that will be just as good.

Oh and the soundtrack to the video is Sigur Rós, which gets extra brownie points!

Our New Usability Tester…

2008 at 14:41 pm by Jonny

Basically hes a bit like the “Stig” but he test drives our interfaces.
Some say that the music in his ears is actually the “Copacabana” by Barry Manilow played backwards?!

Anybody got any good ideas for a name?

The Amazing MooTree

2008 at 15:47 pm by Jonny

While tidying my desk yeaterday and the desk of our lost comrade G-Man from PencilRebel i came across a lot MooCards which we have collected over the past couple of years. In a rare creative moment (these days anyway!) i decided to start sticking them to the fake plastic tree i have next to my desk.

Anyhow in true Plusnet fashion this ended up in the Community siteEnd of Day“. This was then picked up by Denise Wilton from moo.com who said the following:

MooTree made from moo cards

You’d be right to love your MOO tree - it’s awesome! And sounds like the most important part of your work, for sure. Actually, I might get our dev team on it asap - we’re lacking in one. I’ll file it as a bug.

So if anybody has any Moo cards they wish to add to the tree please feel free to send them to me!

My new bouldering pad…

2008 at 16:10 pm by Jonny

Found this picture on my usual morning read of UKClimbing. It was in the photos section, saw it and thought it was very funny and also considering the comments from one user of “I see a potential Design flaw in the bouldering pad”, unfortunately I can’t find the url to the page anymore on UKClimbing so can’t credit the actual photographer, sorry :(

Old pictures are always the worst

2008 at 16:30 pm by admin

This was sent to me today from my boss Kelly. Its from about 2 years ago when we moved into the new office. I think we were going to be having a small party/gathering that evening to celebrate moving into the new office. I am not totally sure what i am doing, my best guess is that i am “Mooing” like a cow! I make this assumption from the look on my face and the fact that “Bettsie” my toy plastic cow is also in the shot sat on top of my monitor…

Oh dear…

Moooooooo!!

The photo by the way was taken by Wojtek, I will be quizzing him on what the hell I was doing later!
